6) What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

‘Blogger’
Throughout this project every piece of work I completed and any evidence I could use I put on to the blog. Bearing in mind I have never use Blogger before, I found some tools easy to use and some not so easy. For example, when I put a picture/image on to the post I could never get the image where I wanted it to be exactly, I then learnt that you can only put it in certain positions (these are given to you- you have the option of the alignment for the picture which can be placed on the left, middle or right). Although I have been using the Blogger since the start of September I am still trying to learn how to edit and change such things like the background and the text of my writing as I have encountered a few problems with this. However my blog is still building nicely and I like the idea of creating a blog and I may start to create a blog for a E-portfolio purpose for film bases for future references.

‘Apple Mac Computer’
I used an Apple Mac computer for pretty much every task. Reason for this is because of the programmes that are on these computers, I do not have access to them at home. Such programmes include Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro. The Apple Macs were very useful as they are easy to use. Also the wide screen helped me to complete the tasks more efficiently as I was able to open more than one programme at a time (I.e. having the internet browser open as well as a Word Document or different windows of work on Photoshop especially for Activity 1.

‘Photoshop’
I used this programme in order to complete my nine frame still sequence. From using Photoshop I have learnt how to do simple tasks like ‘cutting’ and ‘cropping’ images. I also have learnt about changing the contrast and brightness, and the colour range on images.

‘Picnik’
Is an online website that I used to allow me to upload my photos and edit them by using creative tools which can change colours, add effects, fonts, shape and frames on the photo’s. This was relatively new to me as I have used this website before on a occasion fix pictures. For my customer profile I used ‘Picnik’ to crop and resize the images in order for them to be at an appropriate size. I learnt how easy it was to add effects, I used basic effects such as ‘Orton-ish’ which allowed me to round the edges of the photo off and add a black light lining around the outside of the picture, this could be edited to how you wanted. A favourite effect of mine is the ‘CinemaScope’ which changes your picture into the frame as if you were watching it at the cinema. I also like the effect of the ‘1960’s’ which gives the photo’s a vintage look. A frame that I tend to use quite frequently is the ‘Rounded Edges’ as it I feel that it makes the picture look different to normal pictures/screen shots I have taken. I also learnt that I could upload photos from ‘Facebook’, ‘Myspace’ etc as well as my computer.

‘Dafont’
Is the name of the website I used to create the titles in my Final Opening Sequence. This website allowed me to find a font from a variety of different styles these were titles in specific groups I.e. Fancy fonts which included Cartoon, Comic, Old school, Groovy, Western, Destroy (which is the type of group I looked at in which I chose a font style from). Other groups were Foreign look, Basic, Script, Dingbats and Holiday.  Once I had chosen the style I wanted in my case ‘Broken’ and ‘Downcome’ I typed in the name of my title and saw how it would look. Previously when I had done this I never knew that I could properly download the font on to the programme I was using ‘Adobe Premiere Pro’ so I would just print screen the title and use that. However I learnt that I could download the title then download this on to the computer and install it on to the programme- which was really cool!

‘Adobe Premiere Pro’
Is the programme in which I used to create my final opening sequence, and the voiceover for the evaluation. I feel that I have learnt and improved my knowledge of this programme much greatly since September. I am gradually picking up new tools and I am getting faster with the tools that I know how to use. I am still trying to develop my knowledge with the ‘Video transitions’ and ‘effects’ as well as the ‘Audio transitions’ and ‘effects’. I also learnt through the Voice over task a few things such as when I ‘capture’ the ‘audio’ to make sure that I capture it in smaller sections so it would be easier for me to ‘cut out’ the talking errors.

‘FreeMind’ is a free programme that I downloaded. I used this to help me create a electronic based brainstorm for my ideas for the ‘Target audience’ ideas including the type of people, ages, characteristics, what they like to watch, eat, do etc.

‘Camera- Sony HVR-HD 1000P’
Is the type of camera recorder I used to capture the footage for my final opening sequence and also to record my Voice over. This camera I used had a great quality, although the camera was specifically used for video, I found that the sound quality was also very good. The camera took me a short while to get used to but once I took some practice shots, I was ready to use the camera. I learnt how to use the camera as it I began to realise that it was very straight forward to use. For most of my shots I used auto focus as I was filming both inside and outside. Although when filming outside in some areas the lighting was not very good for example in the car, I used ‘Night shot’ which allowed me to change to night vision. This made that specific footage have a green vision. This gave that piece of footage a good effect as it made the eyes of the actor glow and also blurred his face which made it suspenseful
