Ideas for my final peice (opening sequence)

For my first two ideas, they are influenced by books that I have read and found really interesting and have always wanted to see a film based on them. Now I have the chance to create an opening sequence I would really like to try and create one based along the idea of the book, however I will change the story around to make it more my own.
Idea 1: 'The Question of the Unknown'

My first idea and my most favourable was influenced by one of my favourite thriller genre books ‘No Time For Goodbye’ by Linwood Barclay. This book is full of twists and anxiety to make you want to read on it’s simply “mind gripping”.  Although my idea is based around the book, I have made a few minor changes such as the characters names, change of the title and added a few bits here and there. So here is how the story goes...

Nadine was a typical teenage girl who wanted to go out, party have a laugh. After a night were she snuck out a with a few friends she wakes up with a nasty hangover and an even worst feeling about how livid her parents are going to be with her when she sees them. She goes downstairs to make herself a glass of water and toast. The house is unusually quiet, she realises that the house is empty but to check she looks at the time and sees that its only 15 minutes early than the time her parents usually go to work. She calls up to her parents but there's no answer, so she calls her brother Billy but again there is no reply. Nadine looks for a note but there is no sign, she checks the whole house. (she rings her parents, and Billy, then calls her aunt but they have not heard from them).

25years later Nadine still is haunted by the unanswered question why did her family leave her alone without any trace? Were  her family murdered? If so why was she spared? Or did they abandon her for no reason?
Now she is married and has a daughter of her own, but Nadine fears that her new family will be taken away from her as well. She takes part in a TV documentary which revisits the events that happened near that time and the whole case, hoping that someone will remember or figure out what may have happened. Until one day she receives a mysterious letter that could start to stir things up.

Ideas that I have come up with to support/direct the opening:
  • Possibly either a female narrator (who happens to be the daughter explaining the story) as a voice over and a low non-digetic sound (music) in the background with a few digetic sounds OR the female actor talking as the opening sequence follows.
  • Location: In the book, one of the locations is a quarry and I so happen to live near a quarry so I thought I could take a shot of the quarry which will be visualised at the start of the opening which will hopefully make the audience wonder why there is a quarry involved?
  • Newspaper Article with the headline stating about the missing parents/abondaning of the girl.

Idea 2
Again influenced by another thriller genre book written by Linwood Barclay, I have thought about creating my opening sequence based around the book ‘Fear the Worst’. The idea will be changed to make it more of my own, if I chose to take this idea on. However for now, I will be sticking to the draft idea I have got for now. Here is how the story goes...
Sydney works in the near hotel. She was meant to have finished her shift an hour ago, her father was waiting for her return, he thought that she may have stayed to do extra time but just hadn't rung to tell his dad. It began to get later, and the father was starting to get worried so he drove down to the hotel to find out where she was. When he got to the hotel he asked them if they had seen Sydney and what hours she was working and what time her shift ended but the hotel did not have the hours that she was working and they did not even know who Sydney was. He thought this was odd, why had she lied to him about working?
So he rung around and went to Sydney's friends to find out whether they had seen her,  they couldn’t even tell him where she had been weeks before her disappearance. As the days go by the father has to face not only the fact that his daughter is missing but the fact that his daughter that he loved and nurtured and who he thought he knew as well as everyone but she is a virtual stranger. So he has to try and find out why his daughter has disappeared and where she is.
But what he does not know is that he is being watched. There are others who want to find Sydney as much as her father does. Will he find her?

Idea 3

This idea was just an idea I thought of, as a kind of back up plan incase my other ideas would be too difficult to create in the time restricted, the locations and the usage of equipment etc. This idea is simple, but still interesting and will create anxiety to relate to my thriller themed ideas. Although the idea is simple, I know I can get different shots used within this, so this may be the ideal one, however with planning im sure I can do my best with the other ideas. Since Ive been to a caravan holiday almost everyday was raining so we ended up going out for a bit but coming back to the caravan early so that we could get warmed up. During this time, we only had the tv channels BBC1, BBC 2, ITV3, C4. So instead of watching something I would usually watch I ended up watching 'Midsomer Murders' on ITV3, since watching this I have not stopped watching it. For the opening of each episode they will show the murder..but not showing the actual murderer only the victim. This is so that the audience can be intrigued into watching further to try and work out who possibly was the murderer. Exciting stuff! So my idea will start off similiarly to this.
What happens is...There will be a gardener gardening, and he will drink a tea that he was given, all of a sudden he will start to choke and fall on the floor (the drink will have been poisoned)and will die. But before this the gardener will look up to the house as he will feel that someone is watching him, but he sees noone. then drinks etc.
